Our volunteer Veronika, who has been working for the Salesian mission in South Sudan since September, suffered cerebral malaria on 29 October 2022. Conventional medicines did not work, and therefore it was necessary to go to the hospital. She gradually passed through four hospitals in the capital, Juba, but her condition was constantly deteriorating. The following Saturday, 5 November, she was taken to a hospital in Johannesburg (South Africa) together with volunteer Anička, who was a great support for her throughout that period. Since then, her health has been improving and she is out of danger for life. Her return to Slovakia is already being prepared.
