The main objective of the project was to support and improve conditions for primary education in South Sudan. It is one of the primary development priorities, leading to provision of worthy, full life and further progress with help of endogenous resources.
The improvement was materialized in expanded St Vincent de Paul Primary School in Juba, quarter Gumbo. Eight new classes were added, as the number of pupils in this school, the only one in the area, immensely exceeded the capacity of classes and disabled superior education. It also prevented from accepting new pupils. Another project objective was to increase the qualification of teachers through courses and trainings. Thus, teachers adopted adequate skills and abilities necessary for efficient educational activities. The project also supported activities for children and youth in the form of informal education, sport events etc. The activities aimed at the development of personal and social skills of children even in extra-school environment and offering meaningful alternatives for spending children’s leisure time. The contractor and the partner of the project have long-run experience in cooperation at such projects. The partner governs primary and vocational schools in several places in South Sudan.
The project was supported by budgetary resources of the Slovak Republic through SlovakAid, the official programme of development assistance, by the sum of 197,080 euro.
