One of the schools included in our programme “Adoption Classes in South Sudan” is Don Bosco Gumbo Primary School run by the Salesian Sisters in the parish of St. Vincent de Paul in the capital city Juba. There is also a kindergarten Little Angel, where our Slovak volunteer Veronika works and helps. Many of the children who come here do not have ideal conditions in their homes for preparation, so after school, there are individual tutoring sessions in the afternoons. They are held especially for the Top Class of six-year-old kids who do not have the knowledge needed for this year yet and need to have some basics before starting primary school. Such help is invaluable as their parents rarely give them attention. It is amazing to watch these little pupils’ thirst for knowledge and find joy in learning.
